Although it is a completely different experience to attend a wedding as the photographer, I had such an amazing time shooting my second cousin, Ashley and her husband Mason’s gorgeous wedding in McKinney, Texas!
Ashley and Mason are undoubtedly one of the most PERFECT couples I’ve ever met and have the most adorable story of how they got to know each other. Their modern fairy tale story starts on Instagram, where they went back and forth liking each other's pictures until one of them finally spoke up via Facebook and made the first move (you go, Ashley!). Within weeks of non-stop talking, Ashley then flew out to see Mason as they weren’t living in the same city at the time.
Fast forward three years (December 9th, 2017 to be exact) and here I am photographing their BEAUTIFUL wedding at the Springs Event Venue, where they are surrounded by friends and family celebrating their love.
The weather and venue were absolutely perfect, and seriously made my job so easy as all the pictures turned out to be gorgeous! After the groom prep and photos were taken, the groom and his groomsmen all took advantage of the warm weather and greenery to play football before the ceremony (definitely not something you’d see at a Canadian wedding in December!). Meanwhile, Ashley and her bridesmaids prepped inside the venue and were such a pleasure to photograph in their beautiful gowns.
Although Ashley started off extremely nervous, most of her wedding jitters went away once she and Mason shared their first look outside the venue. Mason’s reaction was so heartwarming. This moment gave me the BIGGEST goosebumps, as it was so perfect.
Another amazing touch about their wedding was that Ashley’s mom planned the ENTIRE thing, including the decor, which was extremely pretty and uniquely organic. Overall, the wedding was perfect (sorry if I overused this word in the blog, but it really was SO perfect!). After Ashley and Mason shared their honeymoon dance, all of their guests excitedly threw white rose petals as they exited the venue into their Rolls Royce waiting for them.
Once the wedding reception began at a nearby hotel, I was able to put my camera down and officially take part in the party celebrating their new life together as husband and wife! This was especially fun as there were a great number of family members attending, including relatives from Wales! As previously mentioned in my last blog post, I definitely learned how to party Welsh and Texan style after my trip to Dallas!
I would like to thank Ashley and Mason for giving me the opportunity to photograph their gorgeous December wedding and wish them a lifetime of love together! I’d also like to thank my amazing family for making my time in Texas the best EVER. I cannot wait to reunite again soon!
