Ottawa, Canada
Nantes, France
I was lucky enough to have captured not one but two weddings with Tim & Charline. The first being in Ottawa in 2020 and the other wedding being in France in 2021! Working with these two has been nothing but a DREAM come true! We have so many incredible memories together and I am so lucky to have met them. They are the most down to earth, kindest people I have ever met. I wish they still lived in Ottawa, so we could get more patio drinks together!!
A little about Tim & Charline's Engagement - After a full day of driving down Route 66 (which included among other things, like being attacked by wild donkeys and giant desert spiders!), they made a scheduled stop in Sedona, Arizona. The following morning, while hiking the red dirt hills of Sedona at sunrise, Tim got down on one knee and proposed with a beautiful engagement ring which he had been carrying around in his backpack the entire trip!!! How incredible is this proposal?!
Tim & Charline planned not one wedding but two. Planning a wedding in a pandemic is not easy... planning one in another country you can say has its challenges! Through all the obstacles, new restrictions / rules, headaches and uncertainty they managed to plan the most beautiful wedding of their dreams! In the cutest city Nantes, France. This is where Charline is from and where all of her family was finally going to be able to see them! It's about a 3 hour train ride from Paris. We got to explore such amazing place with an incredible atmosphere. The wedding was on December 18th, one week before Christmas so there was carolling, Christmas markets, decorations everywhere, singing, the malls were full and there was just so much joy and love going around in this town.
When wedding day came we couldn't have asked for a better day! We started in town right in the middle of the Christmas market. We could see it from their hotel window. Groom and Bride prep was together, and I got one of my most favourite photos of Charline putting Tim's boutonnière on, in her robe while he got ready. Once Charline got into her stunning dress they had their first look and vows in the most unique stairwell, with family and friends surrounding them in an old European hallway. From here we walked the streets of Nantes with family. The sun was shining on us and it was such a beautiful, memorable day. They stopped for some cheese and wine and then off we went for family photos and bride and groom portraits around the village.
There really is something about capturing a wedding in Europe. Every corner you turn and street you come across has something different or unique about it. If that's an old building, cobblestone street, street food, art, an old museums etc., as a photographer photographing in different places, brings so much excitement to us and this was quit the place to be!
We ended the day at a gorgeous restaurant called Restaurant Moia. This was probably my favourite part of the day... when Tim and Charline did their gender reveal for their baby! They both cut their wedding cake together to see if the cake inside was blue or pink! I'll let you scroll down to see for yourself. It was a moment I will never forget.
I am so happy for these two! They have been through a lot in these last few years and can certainly get through anything together. I cannot wait for their little one to arrive!! I am so excited for them! <3
A little side note - When I first started photography I was asked to write down long term goals. Big goals, goals that you didn't even think were possible. Booking this wedding with Tim & Charline has been one of my biggest dreams since starting my small business in college. To photograph a wedding in Europe. This experience has got to be the most rewarding, incredible opportunity. Dream as big as you want, because you never know what will happen!
